The Austerity of Hope
The Austerity of Hope exposes the interpersonal dynamics of a group of gay friends in Astoria, Queens and the issues they and young adults across the country confronted during the 2008 election of Barack Obama – relationships, careers, finances and sex.
The Austerity of Hope enjoyed a sold-out run at the 2011 Fresh Fruit Festival winning multiple awards. An updated version played a three-week engagement at the June Havoc Theatre.
The 2012 production was produced by ELR Productions. The cast included: Akeem Baisden Folkes, Todd Flaherty, Derrick Ledbetter*, Lee Garrett, Mat Leonard, Kohler McKenzie*, Jacob Perkins, Emily Rieder, Max Rhyser*, Micah Spayer* and Anni Weisband. Set Design by Helen Ammon, Lighting Design by Lauren Bremen, Sound Design by Andy Cohen and Costume Design by Liene Dobraja.
The 2011 Fresh Fruit Festival production was produced by Elyssa Rabinowitz in Association with All Out Arts and New Village Productions. The cast included: Matthew Baldiga*, Spenser Genesy, Jason Hart*, Aimee Howard*, Nik Kourtis, Emily Kratter*, Matt Pascua*, Jacob Perkins, and Max Rhyser*.
