About Dan Fingerman

Dan Fingerman is an Astoria-based playwright.


His first work The Austerity of Hope enjoyed a sold-out run at the 2011 Fresh Fruit Festival. It was remounted the following year at Abingdon Theatre Company and garnered critical praise. He made his New York International Fringe Festival debut with Stranded on Motor Parkway in 2013 which was named a Time Out New York Critic's Pick.  His third play Boys of a Certain Age had a sold-out, record-breaking run at the 2016 Fresh Fruit Festival and transferred to a critically acclaimed run at Theatrelab.  His plays have won three Fresh Fruit Awards and Boys recently was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award.  His plays have been published by Indie Theatre Now and he is a member of the Dramatists Guild.


He is a proud graduate of Huntington High School and holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University at Albany (SUNY) where upon graduation he was asked to deliver the Commencement address.   In 2017 he participated in his 10th AIDS Walk where he has raised close to $50K for the Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC).
